Happy Canada Day
Canada Day is a national holiday that celebrates the countryβs 1867 independence from the United Kingdom. The Dominion of Canada was the name given to the new nation, which remained loyal to the United Kingdom and consisted of only four provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec). There are now ten provinces and three territories in the country. The celebration was formerly known as Dominion Day, but after Canada obtained complete independence from the United Kingdom in 1982, it was renamed Canada Day.
Itβs a day for all Canadians to celebrate Canada Day history and culture. While Canadaβs birthday is celebrated, it is also vital to recognise and honour the countryβs indigenous culture and its significance in the countryβs rich past prior to 1867.
