St. Patrick's Day 2026: A St. Patrick’s Day wishes sign on a green background

St. Patrick's Day is on Tuesday, the 17th of March 2026. As it falls on a weekday, the St. Patrick's Day 2026 festivities and celebrations will most likely take place on the weekend before or the weekend after. This is the time to celebrate Irish culture and heritage. It is also to honour St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

While not a statutory holiday across most of Canada, St. Patrick’s Day is still widely celebrated. With many Canadians having Irish roots, this is a time filled with music, food, drinks and performances to celebrate those roots. These celebrations mainly consist of:

  • St. Patrick’s Day 2026 parades
  • At-home activities for St. Patrick’s Day 2026

3 St. Patrick’s Day 2026 Parades to Attend

St. Patrick's Day 2026: A band playing instruments at a parade A huge part of the St. Patrick’s celebrations in Canada and the rest of the world is the parades. There are a number of parades, festivals and celebrations taking place across the country, and here are just 3 of them that have been confirmed as of March 2026.

1. Toronto’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Date: 15 March 2026

Hosted by the St. Patrick’s Parade Society of Toronto, the upcoming parade is just one of many events hosted by the society throughout the year. Before the parade officially kicks off, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Breakfast will take place at Madison Pub from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. This breakfast is a traditional part of the celebration that allows parade goers, participants and community members to get together for a moment of calm before the festivities begin.

The official parade kicks off at 11:30 am and ends at 2:30 pm, with the starting point being St. George Street and Bloor Street.

2. Vancouver’s CelticFest

Fun St. Patrick’s Day Activities to do at Home

St. Patrick's Day 2026: Green and white cookies on a plate next to a mug with cream at the top Since St. Patrick’s Day 2026 falls on a Tuesday, celebrating it the weekend before (the 15th and 16th) is the best option. “If you are not planning on attending or cannot attend any of the parades, you can still have a fun celebration at home with the following ideas,” says Marylyn Ncube, Love Coupons’ deal finder and lover of all festivities.

1. Paint the house green

You do not actually have to paint the walls or anything green, but you can make your home green with decorations. From balloons to candles, green will be the main colour. Since this is an Irish celebration, be sure to include white and orange in your decor choices, and you can hang up the Irish flag.

Depending on how big your space is and if you have any in-theme decorations lying around, you may need to buy decorations, but if you use Occasions coupon codes, you won’t make much of a dent in your wallet.

2. St. Patrick’s Day activities for children

One of the best ways to keep children occupied and happy is with games and interactive activities. For St. Patrick’s weekend, you can keep them busy with the following activities:

  • Creating leprechaun traps to capture a leprechaun who will visit the night before St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Planning a treasure or scavenger hunt where the children can find a pot of gold after following a series of fun clues related to St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Hosting a costume contest where the children can show off their leprechaun costumes.
  • Having the children do St. Patrick’s Day crafts, from making decorations to even making tie-dye t-shirts.
  • Teaching the history of St. Patrick’s Day and Irish culture through quizzes, games and media such as movies.
  • Baking and decorating shamrock cookies.

Most of these activities will require extra crafting supplies that you may not have around the house. To save on these extra supplies, simply check out and use Stationery promo codes.

3. Throw a party for the grownups

For the adults who want to get together, drink Irish booze and celebrate the day, a party is the perfect way to do all of that. While a party can simply be friends getting together with snacks and drinks, since it will be St. Patrick’s Day, you can have more fun with the theme! Ways to do this include:

  • Setting a dress code so your guests can wear green clothing and accessories.
  • Buying green food and snacks, and where necessary, adding green food colouring to the snacks and food you already have. Food coupon codes are key to getting the best St. Patrick’s Day food and snacks without spending too much.
  • Specifically choosing to serve Irish beer such as Guinness and using Alcohol discount codes for good deals. For guests who prefer different or non-alcoholic drinks, adding food colouring to their preferred drinks comes in handy again.
